History: the branch of knowledge dealing with past events.
When we choose to walk in relationship with God daily, we have the blessed opportunity to build history with Him.
From that history, we are able to recount what the Lord has done in times past.
This is a blessing because sometimes what we see in our present can cause concern.
In such cases, it is helpful to look back. It's helpful to review our history.
He is your praise and glory; He is your God, who has done for you these great and awesome things which you have seen with your own eyes.
Deuteronomy 10:21
After we review our history with God, we are ready to speak life and truth to our situation.
"That's right God! I remember when you provided for me."
"God you've always been faithful. Your will is perfect and you will see me through this."
"We have history God. I remember what you've done. I've seen it with my own eyes."
If what we see today is concerning, we have to remember what we've seen God do in the past. Doing so will align our expectation of God's performance in this current situation.
Let's pray.
God,
I choose not to focus on what I see, but what I've seen. God we have history together. You have proven to be faithful time and time again. I remember what you've done in the past. Everything you've done has been great and awesome. I've seen it with my own eyes. You never change, therefore I expect you to do it again.
In Jesus' name,
Amen.
Upon God alone, O my soul, rest peacefully; for my expectation is from him.
Psalms 62:5
For Reflection
