Have you ever experienced heartache?
The type of heartache that can come from disappointment, discouragement, loss, or betrayal.
It's an indescribable pain that creates an ache so deep, that no human hand can reach.
The truth is, we will experience heartache, either intentionally or unintentionally. However, when we have decided to love God with all that we are; our response is to submit to the Word of God, no matter how we feel, even when our hearts hurt. The alternative is to respond from our pain, and that's dangerous.
Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
Matthew 22: 36-37
When we submit to the Word of God at the place of pain, our heart turns right, instead of left at the crossroads.
The sign for the right turn says, "Even in my pain, I submit to the Word of God"
In my pain, I choose to forgive
In my pain, I choose to rejoice
On the contrary, the sign for the left turn says, "In my pain, I choose my feelings"
In my pain, I will seek revenge
In my pain, I will abort the calling and assignment on my life
Truth is, God never promised that we would not experience pain. When we enter into relationship with God, we have to be prepared to experience joy and pain. We have comfort in knowing that He will never leave us. He promises to deliver the righteous out of all afflictions.
We have a responsibility to keep watch over our hearts, because everything we do flows from what's happening in our heart. We have to constantly be in submission to the Word of God, so that when heartache hits, we will respond correctly, and make a right turn.
Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
Proverbs 4:23
